I woke up this morning and realised that NaNoWriMo starts in a few more weeks (November 1st). I participated in Camp NaNo at the start of the year and thought I’d do the second one back in June but failed. Both of these camps were to help me prepare for November and now that time is upon me.
I would need to write 1666.66 words a day to reach the 50,000 word target. Or 2000 words a day for 25 days (giving me 5 days off). I haven’t even been writing 100 words a day for the past few months let-a-lone 1666-2000! I need to get myself back into the writing habit.
For the rest of this month I promise to do some creative writing everyday. This will not include my personal journal or work related writing. It will include blog posts and all other creative writing, short stories, unusual stretches, flash fiction, pages in stories I’m working on, note taking etc.
I’m not going to set a word count for these things just now as I don’t wont this to feel too pressured and burn out before November even starts. What’s more important is getting myself back in the flow of writing everyday, getting my family back into the pattern of me writing everyday. That way, when November rolls around, sitting down to write everyday wont feel so scary or overwhelming. I also need to figure out what I’m going to work on, at this stage I’m thinking Rider is the go.
